Mahindra XEV 9s Gets New Custom Drive Mode To Improve Ride Comfort

  • The Custom mode has been introduced alongside the existing Default, Everyday, Range, Race and Snow modes.
  • Prices of the SUV remain unchanged.

Addressing feedback related to its suspension behaviour, Mahindra has introduced a new ‘CUSTOM’ drive mode on the XEV 9s 7-seater electric SUV, aimed at improving the overall ride comfort. Earlier, the semi-active suspension, especially in the top-spec Pack Three variant, felt overly soft and caused noticeable vertical movement at higher speeds.

The new Custom drive mode enables users to now individually adjust suspension, steering and powertrain settings to their preference, allowing them to achieve a more balanced ride without compromising comfort, control & efficiency. That said, you can now keep the powertrain and steering in relaxed Comfort mode setting for smoother everyday driving, with the suspension in the firmer Race mode for better body control and stability.

It is worth noting that this update is exclusive to the Pack Three variant, which is equipped with adaptive dampers. The lower-spec Pack One and Pack Two variants, which come with conventional passive suspension, do not get this feature.

This new drive mode comes as a standard factory-fitted feature on the latest production models of the XEV 9s, deliveries of which began on January 26. However, it remains unclear whether the XEV 9e will also receive this new Custom drive mode. For those unaware, both the Mahindra XEV 9s and XEV 9e are based on the brand’s born-electric INGLO platform and share the same suspension setup.

Currently, the Mahindra XEV 9s is priced between Rs 19.95 lakh and Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up against the Tata Harrier EV and BYD eMAX 7.
