Mahindra Thar 5-Door To Be Called Thar Roxx; Launch On Aug 15

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally announced the official name for its upcoming Thar 5-door. The elongated SUV will be called THAR ROXX and debut on August 15, 2024. Mahindra claims that the new “Thar ROXX” will further strengthen the Thar brand, with the X factors of sophistication, performance and luxury.

Mahindra Thar Roxx – New Design Elements

Mahindra has made some notable styling changes to give the Thar 5-door a distinguished identity from its 3-door counterpart. These include: –

  • New body-coloured slatted grille
  • Revised LED headlamps with integrated C-shaped DRLs
  • Silver motif on the bumper
  • Dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels
  • Squared rear-wheel arches
  • New tail lamps with an inverted C-motif

Mahindra Thar Roxx – Interior and Expected Features

  • Going by the previous spy shots, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is expected to boast a dual-tone black & brown cabin theme. However, the dashboard design is expected to remain largely unchanged, save for the minor tweaks to house the new floating touchscreen infotainment and a digital driver’s display.
  • The elongated Thar might also receive features like dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, a premium music system, a rear centre armrest, and a 360-degree camera to enhance comfort and convenience.
  • On the safety quotient, the SUV is expected to offer six airbags, traction control, hill assist, multiple driving modes, front & rear parking sensors and probably level-2 ADAS from XUV700.

Propulsion Duties

  • The 5-door Thar is anticipated to be equipped with the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engines as its small counterpart, albeit in a higher state of power tune.
  • Transmission options could include both manual and torque converter automatic units.
  • We believe Mahindra will primarily offer the Thar Roxx with a rear-wheel-drivetrain (RWD), while the option of 4WD will be limited to a few variants.
