Mahindra Scorpio Classic To Be Available In Two Variants

Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched the Scorpio N, which will be sold alongside the older Scorpio. However, the brand will reintroduce the previous-gen model as Scorpio Classic, and it will be available only in two variants: a decently-loaded base-spec trim and a feature-packed range-topping trim. With this, the homegrown carmaker could target Tier II and Tier III customers as well as fleet operators and security agencies to an extent.

If reports are to be believed, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be available in both 7-and 9-seat layouts, with the last row featuring side-facing jump seats. The brand will also make some cosmetic changes to the SUV in the form of a new grille and bumpers.

Powering the outgoing Mahindra Scorpio is a 2.2-liter diesel engine, driving the rear wheels of the car. This engine offered in two states of tune: 120PS/280Nm and 140PS/319Nm. While the former is restricted to the entry-level S3+ trim and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the latter gets a 6-speed manual unit. Its upcoming Classic version is likely to be offered only in the 140PS version and won’t get the 4WD option.
