Mahindra Bolero Neo – Which Variant Should You Buy?

Mahindra Bolero Neo is the latest entrant into the sub-4 meter SUV segment. However, unlike all other models of this class, it is a more rugged body-on-frame SUV. It is essentially a facelift version of the now-discontinued TUV300 that comes with a slightly altered design, more features, and a BS6-compliant 1.5-liter diesel engine. So if you are planning to put your money down on this 7-seater Mahindra vehicle, we advise you to first take a look at the features on offer with each variant. Mahindra Bolero Neo – Variant-Wise Price & Features

1. Mahindra Bolero Neo N4

Bolero Neo N4 Rs 8.48 lakh

Features: –

  • Exterior: – Body-coloured bumpers, steel wheels, signature Bolero side cladding, body-colored spare wheel cover.

  • Interior: – Italian interiors, twin-pod analogue instrument cluster with 3.5-inch color MID, vinyl upholstery, front row roof lamp.

  • Comfort & Convenience: – All-four power windows, central locking, flip key, manual AC with Eco mode, 12V power socket, power steering with tilt adjustment function, foldable 3rd-row seats, Eco driving mode, idle engine start/stop function for better mileage.

  • Safety: – Dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Corner Braking Control (CBC), engine immobilizer, seat belt reminder, high-speed alert, and reverse parking sensors.

Verdict: –

After the standard Bolero, the all-new Bolero Neo is the second most affordable 7-seater diesel SUV available in the Indian market. This variant only comes with basic features. So if you are tight on your budget and want an RWD diesel SUV with a seven-seating configuration, then this could be a suitable option for you. For all others, we’d suggest you give it a skip.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga could be a better-equipped alternative in this price range. However, it only comes with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that drives the front wheels of the MPV.

2. Mahindra Bolero Neo N8

Bolero Neo N8 Rs 9.48 lakh

Features (over N4 variant): –

  • Exterior: – Dual-tone ORVMs, side footstep, wheel caps, rear spoiler, wheel arch cladding.

  • Interior: – Color accents on AC vents, fabric upholstery, steering wheel garnish, piano black finishing on the center console.

  • Comfort & Convenience: – Rear wiper & washer, day/night IRVM, foldable 2nd-row seats, remote keyless entry.

  • Entertainment/Infotainment: – 2-Din music player with Bluetooth, USB, & Aux connectivity, 4 speakers + 2 tweeters, steering mounted audio controls, voice messaging system, Blue Sens App.

Verdict: –

The Bolero Neo N8 carries a premium of Rs 1 lakh over the N4 trim. For such a huge price premium, it seems quite expensive considering that it gets only a handful of useful equipment over the previous variant.

3. Mahindra Bolero Neo N10 & N10 (O)

Bolero Neo N10 Rs 9.99 lakh
Bolero Neo N10 (O) Yet to be revealed

Features (over N8 variant): –

  • Exterior: – Chrome inserts on the grille, alloy wheels, DRLs, front fog lamps, silver-colored spare wheel cover.

  • Interior: – Roof lamp in the middle row.

  • Comfort & Convenience: – Static bending headlamps, follow-me-home function, armrest for front seats, centre armrest in 2nd row, height-adjustable driver seat, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, magic lamp, mechanical locking differential (optional variant only), and Multi-Terrain Technology (optional variant only).

  • Entertainment/Infotainment: – 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth, USB & Aux connectivity.

  • Safety: – ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Verdict: –

The top-spec Bolero Neo N10 variant is our recommendation for you. It receives almost everything that one needs in daily life. However, it still misses out on some important features like Android Auto and Apple Carplay smartphone integration support, auto climate control, and rear AC vents.

On the other hand, its optional trim doesn't add much for buyer's convenience, but it does come with a mechanical locking differential that will provide you with a little off-road fun. The brand has not yet disclosed its price.
