Land Rover Defender OCTA Launched In India At Rs 2.59 Crore

Land Rover has launched the most powerful variant of the Defender SUV in India called the Defender Octa, with prices starting at Rs 2.59 crore (ex-showroom). It is available in the 110 (5-door) style and comes with multiple upgrades over the standard Defender. Here’s everything that you need to know about the Defender Octa: –

  • To start with, the Land Rover Defender Octa is powered by a 4.4-litre twin turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine, making 635PS of whopping power output and up to 750 Nm of peak torque., which enables this mammoth to hit the century sprint in just 4 seconds, making it the most powerful Defender ever made.
  • Furthermore, its intelligent 6D Dynamics suspension and extensively reworked chassis components ensure exceptional on- and off-road performance by minimising body roll and pitch using hydraulically linked dampers. This system actively adjusts suspension stiffness for better stability, ride comfort and cornering control. Additionally, the reinforced chassis, retuned suspension geometry and upgraded anti-roll bars improve traction, articulation and durability, making it a capable high-speed cruiser on roads and a rugged performer on rough terrains.
  • For the first time, Land Rover has also introduced the OCTA Mode – a performance-focused off-road mode on a Defender – that optimises drivetrain response, ABS and launch control for extreme terrains.
  • Stopping power is also unmatched, thanks to Defender’s largest-ever 400 mm brake discs paired with six-piston monobloc calipers and upgraded pads. Additionally, the largest-ever tyres fitted to a Defender, developed specifically for OCTA, come in 20-inch and 22-inch alloy wheels, delivering enhanced grip and all-terrain capabilities.
  • The English automaker has also increased its ride height by 28mm and its width by 68mm.
  • Speaking of the design, the Octa gets redesigned bumpers at both ends, a wider front grille, and a distinctive signature graphic inspired by the octahedral shape of diamonds, symbolizing its extreme toughness and desirability.
  • Land Rover has offered the Defender Octa in two colours: Charente Grey and Petra Copper, while the Octa Edition One comes with Faroe Green and Carpathian Grey. All of these hues get a contrasting Black coloured roof.
  • Inside, the Octa comes kitted with sports front seats with more supportive bolsters and integrated headrests. Furthermore, it has four built-in transducers in the front seats that deliver high-quality sound vibrations. Using SUBPAC AI software, these seats analyze audio from the 700W, 15-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System in real-time, creating an immersive experience where you feel the music through vibrations along with the sound.
  • Other notable features of the SUV includes a 11.4-inch infotainment screen, a 15-speaker Meridian sound system, three-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, hill assist, etc.
  • In the Indian market, the Octa faces competition from the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX.
