Kawasaki ZX 25R Launched In Indonesia

Kawasaki Ninja ZX 25-R has finally launched in Indonesia at a starting price of IDR 96,000,000 (approx INR 4.99 lakh). It was first showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in October last year. The bike was supposed to be launched on 4th April but COVID-19 pandemic delayed the launch. It will be manufactured in Indonesia only. From here, the company will export the bike in other Asian southern countries.

Kawasaki ZX 25-R: Variants

The new Kawasaki Ninja is being offered in two variants: standard & special edition. Their pricing are as follows:-

Standard

IDR 96,000,000 (INR 4.99 Lakhs)

Special Edition

IDR 112,900,000 (INR 5.89 Lakhs)

Engine

Hailed as the ‘pocket-rocket’, the performance figures of the ZX 25R does all the justice to its title. It gets a 250cc, liquid cooled, in-line four-cylinder petrol engine that produces a fantastic power output of 51 PS @15,500 RPM and torque figures of 22.9 Nm @14,500 RPM. It is more powerful than the Ninja 400 & KTM RC 390. Though the peak power output is achieved at 15,500 RPM, Kawasaki has revealed that the quarter-litre unit can rev all the way up to 17,000 RPM.

This powerbeast engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-clutch. The SE variant also gets an additional bi-directional quickshifter for clutchless gear shifting.

Design & Features

The bike gets the similar design like the New Ninja 400. It features the split LED headlamps on the front, ram-air intake above the headlamps, muscular fuel tank, step-up style seat and black aesthetics of the bike do come across as appealing. Even the Kawasaki Racing team logo on the side panels suggests that it is a performance-oriented bike.

Some of the stand-out features on offer with the ZX 25R include assist and slipper clutch, electronic throttle valves, economical riding indicator, quick shifter, different driving power modes, dual-channel ABS, semi-digital instrumentation panel that gets an analogue tachometer and also a digital display, for important info readouts.

Colour Schemes

The Standard variant is available with monotone colour options (lime green, black). While the more pricey special edition comes with dual-tone colour schemes (white/black, blue/black).

Dimensions and Underpinnings

Kawasaki Ninja ZX 25R is 1980 mm long, 750 mm wide and 1110 mm tall. It weighs 182 kilograms. It gets impressive underpinnings on offer. The suspension duties are handled by USD forks in front and horizontal backlink at rear with spring reload adjustability.

At the front, it gets a 310-mm single disc brake with radially mounted monobloc calliper and 220 mm disc brakes at the rear. The bike stands on 17-inches alloys wheel with 110/70 R 17 M/C (54H) section tyres at the front, while the rear gets a 150/60 R 17 M/C 66H section thicker profile that will give a greater grip even on the rougher terrains.

Will it come to India?

As interesting as the bike may come across, it's important to know the fact that the bike looks quite similar to Ninja 400, which is already being sold in India at the introductory price of almost INR 5 lakh, which in itself sounds like a demanding figure for a highly price-sensitive market Hence, the chances of ZX 25-R hitting the Indian dealerships are very less. However, we still cannot completely rule out the possibility of importing the bike in limited numbers via CBU (Completely built unit) route.
