It’s Official!! Mahindra Teases The New Scorpio (Z101) For The First Time

Mahindra & Mahindra has teased the new-generation Scorpio (internally codenamed Z101) for the first time calling it “The Big Daddy Of SUVs”. The brand is likely to unveil the three-row SUV in June 2022, probably on its 20th anniversary in the Indian market.

The first official teaser reveals that the new Scorpio was planned at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It can also be seen testing on the state-of-the-art Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT).

In another officially teased image, the dual-barrel LED headlamps of the SUV with sequential turn indicators can be seen. It also reveals the LED fog lamps, flanked by C-shaped LED DRLs. More details about its design and features will be revealed in the coming days.

Revealed by the recently leaked images, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will get a newly designed dashboard, a dual-tone brown & black cabin theme, AdrinoX powered infotainment system, a single-pane electric sunroof, roof-mounted speakers, multiple driving modes, 360-degree camera, tire pressure monitoring system, wireless smartphone charger, captain seats in 2nd row, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents with individual blower control, and much more. Powering the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio could be the Thar’s 2.2-liter diesel and 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engines, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It is likely to get the rear-wheel drivetrain (RWD) as standard, whereas the four-wheel drivetrain (4WD) option could be limited to select variants.

Since the Mahindra Scorpio is expected to underpin Thar’s new ladder frame chassis, it will continue to enjoy its exclusivity in the D segment. However, it will continue to be seen as a more rugged alternative to the monocoque SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq, MG Hector, and Volkswagen Taigun.
