It's Official: Hyundai Creta-Based 7-Seater SUV Will Be Called Alcazar

There is nothing secret that Hyundai is working on a Creta-based 7-seater SUV. Speculations were being made that it would be known as 'Alcazar'. Now Hyundai has officially confirmed this name. It is likely to be launched by mid-2021, while its global unveil is expected in March 2021.

Like the Harrier-Safari duo, the Alcazar will be longer and taller than the 5-seater Creta. However, its wheelbase and width are expected to remain the same. The SUV has been spied testing multiple times and the spy shots have suggested that it will get some distinct design elements to set to apart from its 5-seater counterpart. This includes a refreshed front grille, newly designed bumpers, new dual-tone alloy wheels, a longer rear overhang with a quarter glass panel, and a redesigned rear end with new LED tail lamps.

Hyundai Alcazar – Interior & Features

The interior of the upcoming Hyundai SUV will also be similar to the Creta, except for the added row of seats and a different cabin theme. It is likely to come in both 6-& 7-seater configurations. The latest spy images of the 6-seater Alcazar reveals that it will get a dual-tone finished captain seat in the middle row with dedicated ISOFIX child seat mounts and an armrest with cup holders, wireless mobile phone charger and small storage for your tiny stuff.

As far as the features are concerned, the Hyundai Alcazar will borrow most of its features from the Creta. This majorly includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay & Android Auto, BlueLink connected car technology with remote control functions, automatic climate control, dedicated rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, a Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, fully digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, air purifier, tire pressure monitoring system, 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors with rear camera, ESC, etc. In addition, it could also get a powered tailgate as well as Hyundai SmartSense technology, which is basically an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).

Hyundai Alcazar – Expected Powertrain

The Hyundai Alcazar could be powered by Creta's 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS/242Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel (115PS/250Nm) engines. Gearbox choices are also likely to remain unchanged.

Hyundai Alcazar – Expected Price & Rivals

Expect the Hyundai Alcazar to demand a premium of up to Rs 1 lakh over the 5-seater Creta that is priced between Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 17.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Hence, it could be more affordable than the MG Hector Plus (Rs 13.34 – 19.22 lakh) and Tata Safari (Rs 14.69 – 21.45 lakh).
