Hyundai Manufactured 1 Crore Cars Over 23 Years In India, Alcazar Sets A New Record

Hyundai Motors India has achieved a major milestone of producing 1 crore cars in India. And the recently launched Alcazar mid-sized SUV was the 10 millionth Hyundai car to be rolled out from the manufacturer’s production facility at Sriperumbudur (near Chennai) in Tamil Nadu. With this, the Korean carmaker has also become the fastest company to obtain this success. 

Hyundai India production records

For those who aren't aware, Hyundai India began its manufacturing operations in September 1998 with the iconic ‘Santro’ hatchback, which has given it a tremendous success. Accompanied by that, the brand introduced Accent and Sonata, which have also performed quite well. However, the huge growth of Hyundai Motors India in the past several years can be attributed to the immense popularity of its select models such as the i10, Creta, and Venue, which constantly making their place in the top-10 most selling cars list over the years thanks to the consistent growth in the field of engineering, design, and marketing as well as an excellent sales and service network in the country. Currently, Hyundai has 522 dealers and more than 1,298 service points across India.

The above table indicates the huge growth of Hyundai Motors over the year. It took over 7 years for the brand to achieve its first million milestone, but only 2.7 yrs for the next million. And since 2010, Hyundai has made a record production of 1 million in an average of 19 months

Currently, Hyundai has eleven cars on sale in India. These include Santro (Rs 4.73-6.41 lakh), Grand i10 Nios (Rs 5.23-8.45 lakh), Aura (Rs 5.97-9.35 lakh), i20 (Rs 6.85-11.34 lakh), Venue (Rs 6.92-11.78 lakh), Verna (Rs 9.19-15.25 lakh), Creta (Rs 9.99-17.70 lakh), Alcazar (Rs 16.30-20.14 lakh), Elantra (Rs 17.85-21.12 lakh), Kona EV (Rs 23.77-23.96 lakh) and Tucson (Rs 22.57-27.35 lakh). Soon the brand will introduce the AX1 (codename) micro SUV, which will be positioned against the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Maruti Ignis, and the upcoming Tata HBX.
