Hyundai has teased the IONIQ 6 electrified sedan for the first time, which the Korean carmaker calls an electrified streamliner. While the teaser doesn’t reveal anything about the upcoming EV except its smooth streamlined silhouette, which is essential for low drag that further contributes to the high energy efficiency.
The production-spec Hyundai IONIQ 6 is expected to take its design inspiration from its “Prophecy” concept EV that features a single curve streamline which extends from front to rear with minimalist restraints, providing superior aerodynamics. It is expected to be based on the brand’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) platform that also underpins several other Hyundai Groups’ EVs, including the Ioniq 5 midsize crossover that is scheduled to be launched in India in the upcoming months.
Expect Hyundai to equip the IONIQ 6 with a 77.4kWh battery pack, along with the option of dual-motor AWD or single-motor RWD powertrain. Similar to the IONIQ 5, it is likely to offer a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge and will support ultra-fast DC charging of up to 220kW that will be capable of energizing its battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
