After teasing the upcoming Bayon several times, Hyundai India has now started accepting pre-launch bookings of this upcoming SUV ahead of its official debut in October 2026. Interested customers can reserve their units either online or at their nearest authorised Hyundai dealership for a token amount of Rs 11,000. It will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in the brand’s current product lineup.
Hyundai Bayon – What Do We Know So Far?
Exterior
Going by the teasers, we now know that the Bayon will feature a crossover-like styling with a sloping roofline, an upward kink in the windowline near the C-pillar, and roof rails. Upfront, it will feature L-shaped LED DRLs connected by a sleek black trim. The main headlamp unit will be vertically stacked lower on the bumper, flanking the radiator grille.
The teaser also confirms the presence of dual-tone, machined-cut alloy wheels featuring multiple hexagonal circular loops, giving it a rugged and futuristic look.
Similar to the front, the rear will also feature L-shaped LED tail lamps, connected by a black strip. Furthermore, the tailgate will feature ‘BAYON’ lettering.
Interior and Features
Inside, the Bayon is expected to feature the same dashboard layout that we have seen on the Brazilian-spec new-generation i20.
Regarding features, it is expected to be equipped with amenities like dual-zone climate control, ventilated front sests, powered driver’s seat, twin-connected displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, auto-dimming IRVM, air purifier, rear sunshades, BOSE sound system, panoramic sunroof, TPMS, multi-colour ambieting lighting, hill assist, and level-2 ADAS suite.
Engine and Gearbox
Our sources have suggested that the Byaon will be offered with Creta’s 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options. It will also be provided with a factory-fitted CNG kit, making it the Hyundai’s first mid-size offering to get CNG powertrain.
Expected Price and Rivals
We expect Hyundai to price the Bayon between Rs 10-15 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the MG Astor, Honda Elevate, and non-hybrid variants of the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara.
