Honda Elevate Goes CNG — With a Twist!

Honda Cars India is now offering customers the option to buy the Elevate SUV with a CNG powertrain. However, it’s not a factory-fitted setup – instead, it will be retrofitted by a dealership or authorised vendors. In fact, select dealerships have already started delivering the retrofitted CNG version of the Elevate. A similar option was also provided by Renault across its lineup.

This move caters to buyers looking for better fuel economy and lower running costs, though it does come with some compromises in terms of performance and boot space.

Interestingly, opting for the dealer-installed CNG kit on the Honda Elevate does not void the SUV’s standard warranty, which is a big plus for buyers concerned about aftersales support. Moreover, this CNG fitment is fully compliant with government norms and road safety regulations, meaning owners won’t face any legal complications during registration or routine checks.

Honda Elevate price in Delhi

Honda has not yet revealed the official price of this CNG retrofit. The final cost may vary slightly depending on the dealership and city. As for the powertrain, the Honda Elevate continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. It comes with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox option. However, the CNG variant is expected to be available only with the manual transmission, which is a common norm for most CNG-equipped cars in India due to tuning and efficiency reasons.

It’s also worth noting that CNG variants generally offer lower performance compared to their petrol counterparts, especially in terms of acceleration and overtaking power, as the engine has to adjust for the lower energy content of CNG fuel.

With this new option, Honda aims to tap into the budget-conscious and high-mileage user base, especially fleet operators and daily commuters looking for lower running costs without switching to a completely different fuel type or platform.
