Hero Electric Optima HX Gets Cruise Control Function

Hero Electric has updated its popular Optima HX city-range scooter with cruise control feature that will add more convenience to the riders. At Rs 55,800 (ex-showroom Delhi, including FAME II subsidies), the e-scooter is priced similar to before. That said, the newly added feature doesn't count any premium to its price tag.

The cruise control feature on the Hero Optima HX can be activated by a press of a button to maintain the desired speed during your commute. The rider will be required to press the brake lever or twist the throttle to deactivate the feature. The instrument cluster has also been updated to include a cruise control indicator.

Apart from the addition of cruise control, the rest of the e-scooter remains unchanged. That means, the electric scooter continues to be powered by a 550W brushless DC motor, paired to a removable 51.2V, 30Ah lithium-ion battery pack offering a top speed of 42kmph and claimed range of 82km. It takes around five hours to juice its battery 100 percent.

In terms of features, the Hero Optima HX comes equipped with an LED headlight, apron-mounted storage compartment, a digital instrument cluster, anti-theft alarm, 12-inch alloy wheels, a remote lock, a USB charging port, and a small underseat storage space.

The Hero Optima HX also comes in a variant with a dual-battery pack that retails at Rs 65,640 (ex-showroom Delhi, including FAME II subsidy), and offers a tested range of 122km.

In other developments, Hero Electric has recently partnered with Bengaluru-based advanced battery technology start-up Log9 Materials, to offer the Log9InstaCharging battery packs for its entire range of EVs. The integration of Log9’s RapidX batteries can reportedly fully charge Hero Electric two-wheelers within 15 minutes, thereby providing an uninterrupted ride experience.
