Citroen India has recently unveiled the Basalt Coupe SUV ahead of its anticipated launch in the coming days. The French carmaker will offer it in multiple powertrain and colour options, catering to a wider section of the audience.   • Similar to the Citroen C3 range of vehicles, the Basalt offers the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engine options.
  • The turbo-petrol engine with a manual gearbox offers slightly lower torque output than its automatic iteration. However, it boasts the highest fuel efficiency among the three powertrain options.

Citroen Basalt – Key Features

Citroen has loaded the Basalt with a decent set of features, comprising a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, steering mounted control, automatic AC, rear AC vents, wireless smartphone charger, cruise control, and much more.

For passenger safety, the SUV gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera.

Expected Price and Rivals

The Citroen Basalt is expected to have a starting price of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete directly with the Tata Curvv and serve as a coupe alternative to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.
