Facelifted BMW 8 Series Revealed Globally; India Launch Expected By Late 2022

Bavarian Motor Works, i.e, the BMW has finally unveiled the facelifted Series 8 globally, which is available in three body versions: Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe.

2022 BMW 8 Series Facelift – What’s New?

Being a facelift model, the new BMW 8 Series gets a revised front design with a new splitter on the front bumper and an illuminated kidney grille. It also receives new 20-inch M light alloy wheels in star-spoke design, a different rear bumper design integrated with a massive diffuser, and eight body color options that include Skyscraper Grey Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Isle of Man Green Metallic, Tanzanite Blue Metallic, Frozen Pure Grey Metallic, Frozen Deep Grey Metallic, Frozen Deep Green Metallic, and Frozen Tanzanite Blue Metallic.

Inside the cabin, the upgraded 8 Series features a slightly larger touchscreen infotainment system (12.3″ unit instead of 10.25″). Besides, the new full leather Merino/Alcantara trim is now standard for both M Sports seats and the optional M Carbon bucket seats. And for the first time, it is also available in the Black/Sakhir Orange colour combination, which gives a fresh appeal to the cabin.

2022 BMW 8 Series Facelift – Powertrain

Globally, the 2022 BMW 8 Series comes in three engine options: a 625PS twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol, 340PS 3.0 litre in-line 6-cylinder petrol and 340PS 3.0 litre in-line 6-cylinder diesel with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. All comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.

Will BMW launch it in India?

BMW is likely to bring the facelifted Series 8 to our shores by the end of this year. Once launched, it will renew its competition with the Mercedes-AMG GT 4 door coupe, Audi RS7 Sportback, and Porsche Panamera.
