EXCLUSIVE: 2021 Maruti Celerio Specifications, Variants, And Booking Details Revealed

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation Celerio in the coming weeks. Thanks to the multiple spy shots, we already know about its new exterior and interior design, but now our source has revealed more details about the upcoming hatch, including the variant lineup and engine specifications.

2021 maruti celerio new gen

According to our source, Celerio's new model will be launched on November 10, while its official bookings will commence on November 2, i.e., on the prosperous eve of Dhanteras. It is expected to be offered in four broad trims- LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+.

Under the hood, the new-gen model will get a new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, K10C aluminium-type 12-valve DualJet petrol engine with an idle start/stop function. While the power output is still under the wraps, it is likely to produce 89Nm of peak torque at 3,500rpm. Contrary to earlier speculations, it will not come with a 1.2-litre gasoline mill.

Thanks to the DualJet technology, the fuel atomization will be more precise in the new Celerio, whereas the idle start-stop function will make it more efficient. We have got to know that the new hatch will return an exceptional fuel efficiency of around 26kmpl, making it the most fuel-efficient hatchback in the segment. Transmission options on the new Celerio will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT, which will be reserved for the VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ variants.

Like the current-gen WagonR, the updated Celerio will be based on Suzuki's modular Heartect platform, and so it will be bigger than the ongoing model. It will boast a luggage space of 313-litres, which is 78-litres more than the ongoing model.

In terms of features, the 2021 Celerio will get safety aids like dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors, front row seatbelt reminder, ABS with EBD, and speed alert as standard. Maruti will also offer hill start assist, a reversing camera, auto AC, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, steering mounted controls in higher variants.

Expect the upgraded Maruti Celerio to be priced between Rs 4.7 lakh and Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rekindle its rivalry with the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, and Datsun GO
