Deliveries Of Jawa Perak Will Start From July 20

The most affordable bobber motorcycle in the country, Jawa Perak is the third offering of Jawa’s in India after the Jawa and the Forty Two. Gladly for those of you who have been waiting for one, the company has announced that it will start quintessential bobber’s deliveries from July 20.

Perak technically has never been on sale in the country. Though its BS6 compliant variant was introduced in November 2019. Deliveries were scheduled to start in April but it got delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on this, Anupam Thareja, co-founder, Classic legends (a subsidiary of Jawa that resurrected Jawa back) said:-

“When we set out to build the Perak, the goal was simple – to create a motorcycle with the right blend of exclusivity, individuality and performance, with a hint of sinister and dark. Built on the idea of India’s first factory custom, the Perak is just that and now it is out on its prowl. We are proud of our creation and today we offer it to our customers to enjoy. We welcome them to the ’dark’ side and hope that nights will never be the same for Perak riders."

What all does Jawa Perak get?

Engine

As it happens to be Jawa’s flagship offering, it gets the highest capacity engine among all three Jawa bikes. The Bobber runs on a BS-6 compliant 334 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which can churn out the power output of 30 PS and a torque output of 31 Nm.

Underpinnings

The Jawa Perak’s body sits on a completely updated ‘double cradle tubular frame’ chassis. While the suspension duties at the front are handled by telescopic hydraulic forks, the rear houses 7-step adjustable mono-shock.

The front gets an 18-inch tire, while the rear gets a wider profile tire which is 17 inches in size. Dual disc brakes are offered as standard, on the front the bike gets 280mm disc brake and on the rear, it gets 24 mm disc.

Features

The bike does not get a lot of latest tech and the instruments on offer are very basic. Some of the prominent features of the Perak include digital odometer, handlebar end mirrors, chopped twin exhausts and the most important one Dual-channel ABS (Antilock Braking System).

The floating seat, handlebar end mirrors, matte black treatment, chopped fenders and stubby exhaust muffler help the Perak define itself as a bobber.

Pricing & Rivals

The Perak retails at a price of Rs 1.95 Lakhs (Ex-ShowroomShowrrom, Delhi) and though it does not have a direct competitor, it will be locking horns with closely priced bikes like the RE Classic 350 and Benelli Imperiale 400.

Author’s Take

There is no denying the fact that the Perak looks stunning, add to which the fact that it is the cheapest bobber on sale in India and comes at a price insanely cheaper than the second most affordable bobber (Triumph’s Bonneville Bobber which costs a whopping Rs 10.28 Lakhs)

A substantially large chunk of Indian bike buyers will never ever fancy buying a one-seater bike that looks half-finished, but if you happen to be on the other side of the sea and have dreamt of owning a Bobber for yourself, Perak does sound like a great deal.
