French automaker Citroen has launched the C3 with a CNG powertrain option in the country. With this, it has become the first Citroen car to get the CNG option. However, unlike other cars in the segment, such as Hyundai Exter and Tata Punch, which get a factory-fitted CNG equipment, the C3 comes with a retrofitted kit, installed by the dealerships. And for users’ convenience, the CNG filling nozzle will be placed beside the petrol-filling port.
The CNG kit option is available with all the naturally aspirated variants of the C3 for a premium of Rs 93,000 over the regular pricing. These kits are government-approved and come with a standard warranty of 3 years/1 lakh km (whichever is first). With a claimed fuel efficiency of 28.1 km/kg, its 55-litre CNG tank will offer a range of up to 200 kilometres. Citroen says the suspension of the CNG variants will also be retuned to counter the added weight in the cross-hatch.
N.A. Variants | Price without CNG kit | Price with CNG kit |
Live | Rs 6.23 lakh | Rs 7.16 lakh |
Feel | Rs 6.48 lakh | Rs 7.41 lakh |
Feel (O) | Rs 7.52 lakh | Rs 8.45 lakh |

Powering the Citroen CNG is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 82PS of max power and 115Nm of peak torque in the standard version and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, it is expected to generate lower power/torque outputs when fed with CNG. The exact figures are yet to be revealed.
Citroen also offers the C3 with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine (producing up to 110PS/205Nm), paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. However, the CNG option is not available with this powertrain.

Regarding features, the Citroen C3 comes loaded with amenities like LED projector headlamps, power adjustable & foldable side mirrors, rear wiper & washer, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital cluster, six airbags, electronic stability control, a hill hold assist, day/night a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a rear parking camera with sensors.
Currently, Citroen retails the C3 between Rs 6.23 – 10.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
