BS6 Honda CB300R Unveiled At India Bike Week 2021

Honda has taken the wraps off the BS6 iteration of the CB300R motorcycle at the 2021 India Bike Week (IBW). The naked roadster is likely to be launched in January 2022, with prices expected to start from around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the previous model, which was discounted last year during the BS6 transition phase, the 2022 CB300R will be locally manufactured. On its arrival, it will go up against the KTM 390 Duke and BMW G 310 R.

Complying with the stricter BS6/Euro-5 emission norms, the Honda CB300R uses the same 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that now dishes out 31.1PS at 9000rpm and 27.5Nm at 7500rpm, making it 0.7PS/0.1Nm more powerful and torquier than its predecessor. It's 6-speed transmission now also comes with an assist & slipper clutch as standard.

The neo-retro design of the 2022 Honda CB300R remains similar to the previous iteration with notable highlights including a butchy silhouette, circular LED headlamp, chiselled fuel tank, and stocky tail section. However, the fuel tank extensions of the bike now feature a stealthier darker grey shade (instead of silver), whereas the front inverted fork gets a contrasting golden finishing.

Based on the same trellis frame, the bike uses a Showa 41mm USD fork and a link-type rear monoshock setup. Braking duties also continue to be exercised by 296mm/220mm disc brake setup, with dual-channel ABS. Surprisingly, at 146kg, the upgraded CB300R is 1kg lighter than its BS4 version.
