BS6 Compliant Ducati Multistrada 950S Launched In India At Rs 15.49 lakh

Ducati has launched the BS6-compliant Multistrada 950 S in India at Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings of the bike have been already started at a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. The company has announced that the deliveries of the bike will start very soon.

The BS6 Ducati Multistrada 950 S is only available in the red color variant. It is the third BS6-compliant motorcycle from the Italian makers after the Ducati Panigale V2 and the Ducati Scrambler 1100 range

The updated Multistrada 950S's heart is a BS6-compliant 937cc, Testastretta L-Twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 113PS of maximum power at 9000rpm and 96Nm of peak torque at 7750rpm. The engine comes mated to a slipper clutch-enabled hydraulically actuated 6-speed transmission with a bi-directional quickshifter. 

Along with the powerful motor grunt, the bike also gets a wide range of electronic aids to enhance its overall performance & rideability. It mainly includes six-axis IMU from Bosch to control a lean-sensitive eight-level traction control system and a three-level cornering ABS. Further, it also gets four riding modes: Urban, Touring, Sport, and Enduro, which alters the engine response and traction control mode as per the mode selection.

As far as the underpinnings are concerned, the updated baby Multistrada consists of the tubular steel trellis frame supported by newly added Ducati's semi-active suspension system called the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) which controls the rebound damping, spring preload, and compression of both the front inverted fork and the rear monoshock. It gets a 19-inch front & 17-inch rear wheel setup dressed with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II rubber at both ends. On the other hand, the braking duties are handled by twin 320mm discs with Brembo monobloc 4-pot caliper at the front and a 265mm disc with a 2-piston floating caliper at the rear, aided by a three-level cornering ABS from Bosch.

In the Indian market, the new Ducati Multistrada 950S competes against the likes of BMW F 900 XR (Rs. 10.5 – 11.5 Lakh), Triumph Tiger 900 (Rs 13.70 to 15.50 Lakh), and Kawasaki Versys 1000 (Rs.10.99 Lakh). It is important to note that it is the priciest amongst its rivals. The brand will also offer the bike in white color in the near future.
