Bookings Open For New Mini Cooper S Petrol In India

Mini India has started accepting bookings of the fifth-gen Cooper S ahead of its imminent launch in the coming weeks. The upgraded premium hatch retains its iconic silhouette; however, it flaunts an upgraded exterior and interior.

2024 Mini Cooper S Engine

Powering the new Mini Cooper S is a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that makes 204PS/300Nm, a boost of 26PS and 20Nm over its predecessor. This increased power results in 0.1 second quicker acceleration, enabling 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds. It will continue to be offered in front-wheel-drive configuration via a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

2024 Mini Cooper S Exterior and Interior Changes

Exterior-wise, the Mini Cooper retains its signature shape but receives a modern twist with a redesigned grille, sleeker round LED headlamps, new alloy wheels and refreshed triangular LED taillights with iconic “Union Jack” motif connected by a black plastic applique.

Though the exterior may seem familiar, the interior boasts a brand-new design, featuring a minimalist aesthetic with a huge 9.4-inch round OLED touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage. Interestingly, it lacks a dedicated driver’s cluster, but a heads-up display (HUD) ensures access to relevant driving-related information. Similar to previous Mini models, you’ll find toggle switches for key functions like the parking brake, gear selector and engine start/stop.

Other notable features of the new Mini Cooper S include a panoramic glass roof, connected car technology, multi-colour ambient lighting, power-adjustable front seats, auto AC, massage function on the driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and electrochromic IRVM.

Rivals

The Mini Cooper S doesn’t have any direct rival in the Indian market but can be considered as an alternative to the BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
