2020 BMW 3 Series: Powertrain
Under the hood, the BMW sport gets the well-known 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which churns out 190PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox which supplies the engine output to the rear wheels.
BMW claims that 320d can touch from 0 to 100kmph in impressive 6.8 seconds.
What does it offer?
BMW 3 Series 320d gets all the goodies that 330i offers. It includes automatic LED headlight, rain-sensing wiper, an 8.8-inch i-Drive infotainment system, three-zone climate control, drive modes, electrically adjustable front seats with driver seat memory function, cruise control, launch control, tire pressure monitoring system, etc. Strangely, it doesn't offer Apple carplay connectivity support, which nowadays is also available in entry-level cars like Renault Kwid & Datsun Redi-Go.
In comparison to the 330i Sport variant, it misses out the M-sport steering wheel. On the other hand, it lacks some prominent features like ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch i-Drive touchscreen infotainment system, apple carplay, and hands-free parking (park assist) compared to the luxury line variant.
On the safety front, it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), front & rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera.
Rivals
In the Indian market, the BMW 3 Series rivals the Jaguar XE and Mercedes Benz C-class. Soon BS6 iteration of Audi A4 will join the race.
