Bajaj Freedom 125 – India’s First CNG Bike Launched

The all-new Bajaj Freedom 125, the World’s first-ever CNG bike has been launched at a starting price of Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). This innovative model represents a significant milestone in the motorcycle industry by offering an eco-friendly alternative to conventional fuel-powered bikes.

Bajaj offers the Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle in three variants: Drum, Drum LED and Disc LED, priced at Rs 95,000, Rs 1.05 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Innovative and Environmentally Friendly

In the face of skyrocketing petrol prices, the Bajaj Freedom 125 offers a highly economical alternative. Powered by a 125cc horizontal CNG engine (9.5PS and 9.7Nm), the bike claims an impressive mileage of 102 km per kg on CNG and a fuel efficiency of 65 km/l when running on petrol, thus offering a range of around 330 km. It features 2 kilograms of CNG tank and a 2-litre petrol tank. It promises 50% lesser operating costs compared to conventional petrol-powered bikes, making it a cost-effective option for long-distance commuters and daily riders alike.

The Bajaj Freedom also claims to deliver up to 26% less CO2 emissions, 85% lower NMHC, and 43% less NOx emissions than conventional petrol bikes, making a significant impact on reducing air pollution.

Design and Features

Based on the trellis frame, the Bajaj Freedom 125 features a contemporary commuter-like design. Its boxy body panels give it a sturdy and practical appearance. It features braced front fenders and boxy tank extensions with a brushed metallic finish. The bike’s long, single-piece seat is the largest in its class, below which is the CNG tank in a horizontal position.

One of the key highlights in terms of design is the inclusion of a mono-linked type suspension system that claims to provide a balanced and smooth ride, making it ideal for both urban commutes and longer journeys. Upfront, the bike gets the conventional telescopic fork with fork gaiters, giving it a rugged appearance. The other notable design bits include a sleek tail section, slim single-piece grab rail, stubby upswept exhaust, and a tyre hugger.

Regarding features, the bike comes loaded with an LED headlight, an engine bash plate, a common fuel cap for petrol & CNG, and an LCD cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

Tipping the scale at 147kg, the Freedom is roughly 16kg heavier than the Bajaj CT125X.

Speaking of safety, the motorcycle has successfully passed 11 rigorous safety tests, meeting both industry standards and Bajaj’s stringent in-house benchmarks.

Colour Options

The Bajaj Freedom comes in five colors Ebony Black, Caribbean Blue, Cyber White, Racing Red, and Pewter Grey.

Rivals

The Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG has no direct rival in the Indian market. However, it can be seen as a cost-effective alternative to the other 125cc bikes such as the Honda SP125, Honda Shine and Hero Xtreme 125R.
