A More Affordable Yamaha YZF-R15S V3.0 Launched At Rs 1.57 Lakh

Last month, we reported about Yamaha working on a new YZF-R15S for the Indian market, and now the Japanese bikemaker has launched the supersport motorcycle with a unibody seat at Rs 1,57,600 (ex-showroom). Yamaha says that it has been introduced on customer's demand. Based on the third-generation model (Version 3.0), the new R15S is available only in the Racing Blue colour. It is Rs 13,200 more affordable than the R15 V4.0.

The biggest highlight of the new Yamaha YZF-R15S V3.0 is its contoured single-piece seat (unibody seat) that has been installed without making any changes to its tail section. With this, it will be more comfortable for everyday use.

Apart from this unique seat, the rest of the bike is exactly similar to the standard R15 V3.0. That said, it continues to be powered by the 155cc VVA-equipped single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine (18.6PS/14.1Nm), mated to a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-&-assist clutch. It makes 0.2PS more power than the R15 V4.0.

Features highlights of the bike include LED headlamps, side stand engine cut-off, a fully digital instrument cluster, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, aluminium swingarm, and much more.

Commenting on its launch, Mr. Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said –

The YZF-R15 in its Version 3.0 was a huge success as it proved to be the most exhilarating model in the 150cc supersport segment with advanced technology and features. While the YZF-R15 V4 is being highly appreciated by customers across India, our research has shown that customers are also looking for a more viable option to commute with a pillion, without having to compromise on the Racing DNA of the R15. At Yamaha we are always listening to what our customers’ demand and make every possible attempt to meet those demands. Hence, the R15S V3 with a Unibody Seat was evident.
