Two New Honda Cars Debuting Next Month: City Facelift and ZR-V Hybrid

Back in January 2025, we reported that Honda is considering bringing the ZR-V to the Indian market. Now, the wait might end very soon, as some media reports suggest that the Japanese carmaker is gearing up to launch the hybrid SUV on May 22, 2026. The brand is also expected to introduce the much-needed update of the City sedan on the same day. Here’s what to expect: –

Honda ZR-V Hybrid – What To Expect?

  • The ZR-V is likely to be brought via the CBU route, with prices likely to range around Rs 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Pitted against the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Citroen C5 Aircross, it will serve as the brand’s flagship offering in the country.
  • Positioned between the HR-V and the CR-V in Honda’s lineup, the ZR-V is a 5-seater, mid-size SUV that features a sporty design with sharp lines and sleek bodywork, dominated by a Maserati-like, sleek octagonal grille with vertical slats.
Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV India launch date
  • Already on sale in select global markets, the ZR-V measures 4,568mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,620mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,657mm.
  • Powering it will be a 2-litre, petrol engine, paired with a self-charging all-wheel-drive strong-hybrid system, offering a combined power output of around 180PS of max power and 315Nm of peak torque.
  • The SUV is also available in a non-hybrid version, but we don’t expect it to make it to our shores.
  • Speaking of the features, the Honda ZR-V is expected to come loaded with amenities like 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-appointed seats, dual-zone climate control, heated side mirrors, a shift-by-wire gear selector, a hands-free tailgate, a floating touchscreen infotainment, a BOSE sound system, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, and an ADAS suite.
2026 Honda City facelift launch date

Honda City Facelift

  • At a time when a new-generation version was expected, Honda is instead gearing up to introduce another facelift update for the City. The first facelift arrived in 2023. Nevertheless, the brand may be holding the new-gen version, probably due to the continued decline in sedan demand.
  • The 2026 Honda City is expected to receive some minor styling changes and a host of new features.
  • Expect the 2026 City Facelift to get a new lighting setup, along with revised wheels and bumper designs at both ends.
  • The brand is also expected to put great emphasis on enhancing the sedan’s tech quotient to make it a more competitive and appealing option. That said, the upgraded City might get a powered driver’s seat, front seats ventilation function, a larger touchscreen with a new user interface, a fully digital driver display, and a 360-degree camera.
  • Mechanically, it is expected to remain unchanged. The sedan will retain the ongoing 121PS 1.5-litre N.A. petrol and 126PS hybrid powertrain options, along with their respective gearbox options.
  • Expect it to command a significant price premium over the ongoing model, which retails between Rs 12 – 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
