Hyundai Tucson Discontinued In India

Hyundai has officially pulled the plug on the Tucson SUV in India. It has also been unlisted from the brand’s official website. While Hyundai has yet to reveal the reason behind its discontinuation, it is probably due to its poor demand among buyers. For reference, the brand only managed to sell 111 units of the Tucson in the last two months.

As of now, Hyundai has no plans to bring the new version of the Tucson to India. However, the brand has confirmed that by FY2030, it aims to launch 26 models in the country, including new nameplates, generational updates, product derivatives, and facelifts.

Hyundai Tucson – An Overview

Launched in 2022, the fourth-generation Tucson was a 5-seater premium mid-size SUV, which was priced between Rs 27.32 lakh and Rs 25.46 lakh (ex-showroom) before being axed. Pitted against the Citroen C5 Aircross and Jeep Compass, it served as Hyundai’s flagship offering in India. It was one of the most feature-rich and technologically advanced SUVs in its category. Hyundai brought the Tucson to our shores via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and assembled it at its Chennai plant.

The Korean carmaker offered the Tucson in India with both petrol (156PS/192Nm) and diesel (18PS/416Nm) engine options, each having a 2-litre displacement and paired with an automatic gearbox option (6-speed unit for petrol and 8-speed unit for diesel). The diesel mill was available with Hyundai’s all-wheel-drive system, featuring three terrain modes (Snow, Mud and Sand).

Regarding features, it was loaded with amenities like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, a floating 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone AC, rear AC vents, BOSE sound system, 10-way powered driver seat adjustment with memory function, BOSS mode front passenger seat, six airbags, and ADAS suite.
