KTM Launches 160 Duke: Most Affordable KTM Yet

The KTM 160 Duke has finally been launched in India at Rs 1,84,998 (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable KTM bike on sale in the country. It has been introduced in place of the recently discontinued Duke 125.

Let’s quickly delve into all the necessary details of the new KTM 160 Duke: –

  • Powered by a 164.2cc, liquid-cooled engine which makes 19PS of max power at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm – highest in the 160cc segment.
  • The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch to decrease rear-wheel skidding during aggressive downshifting and reduce clutch lever effort during gear shifts.
  • At a curb weight of 147kg, KTM claims that the Duke 160 has one of the best power-to-weight ratios in its category.
  • Based on the split-trellis frame (shared with KTM 200 Duke), the new 160 Duke features typical KTM design language, with aggressive tank extensions and exposed frame coloured in a bright orange shade.
  • In terms of features, this naked streetfighter comes equipped with an all-LED lighting system, split seat, switchable dual-channel ABS, and a 5-inch LCD console with features such as smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts and music controls.
  • Underpinnings comprise a WP Apex inverted fork at the front with 138mm travel, and a WP Apex monoshock with 161mm wheel travel.
  • For braking, the bike gets a 320mm front and 230mm rear disc, with radial callipers.
  • The bike has a seat height of 815mm, a ground clearance of 174mm and a tank capacity of 10.1 litres.
  • It rides on 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
  • Available in three colour options: Electronic Orange, Atlantic Blue & Silver Metallic Matte.

In the Indian market, the new KTM 160 Duke goes up against the Yamaha MT15 and Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
