Kinetic DX Scooter Reborn In Electric Avatar

The iconic Kinetic DX scooter is back on sale, albeit in a new, all-electric avatar. It is available in two variants: DX and DX Plus, priced at Rs 1.11 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom). As of now, the scooter is limited to only 35,000 units.

Design and Features

While the design pays homage to the iconic 2-stroke Kinetic DX, the scooter is equipped with a host of modern-day elements and features. To start with, the scooter has a horizontally shaped headlamp with an LED unit, along with a KINETIC moniker on the windscreen. The switchgear and side panels also carry the classic vibe of the older version.

Kinetic has offered it in five body shades: Blue, Black, Grey, Red, and White, all suit the retro-modern theme of the scooter very well.

Regarding features, the new e-scooter comes loaded with the following amenities: –

  • Connected features like Track My Kinetic, Find My Kinetic, Anti-Theft Alert, Guide-me-Home, Geo Fence, and Data Analytics

  • Cruise control
  • Three riding modes: Range, Power and Turbo
  • Reverse mode
  • Regen braking
  • Hill-hold assist
  • Button-operated passenger footpegs
  • Retractable on-board charging cable

Underpinnings

Speaking of the underpinnings, the Kinetic DX uses a steel tubular frame, suspended on conventional telescopic forks and rear twin shock absorbers. It rides on 12-inch alloys shod with 100-section tyres at both ends.

For anchoring, it gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear, with a Combined Braking System (CBS). It has a ground clearance of 165mm and an underseat storage of 37 litres.

  • Claimed Range: 116km in the DX+ and 102km in the DX
  • Charging Speed: 0-100% in 4 hours
  • Power: 4.8kW in the DX+ and 4.7kW in the DX 
  • Claimed top speed: 90kmph in DX Plus and 80kmph in DX

Warranty

Kinetic is offering a standard warranty coverage of 3-year/30,000km, which can be extended up to 9 years/1 lakh km.

Competition Check

The Kinetic DX in its electric version competes with the Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro and TVS iQube.
