Isuzu D-Max Gets Full Electric Version, Maintains Off-Road DNA

First showcased at the Bangkok Motor Show, Isuzu has unveiled an all-electric version of the D-Max pick-up truck at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show in the UK.

  • Isuzu offers the D-Max electric with a dual-motor setup to make it off-road capable. It comes equipped with a newly developed full-time 4WD system that utilises electric axles at both the front and rear. This setup delivers the smooth, linear acceleration characteristic of EVs, while also reducing noise and vibration. Enhancing its off-road credentials further, the D-Max EV features a dedicated Rough Terrain Mode, engineered to offer extreme off-road capability in challenging conditions.
  • These motors draw their charge from a 66.9 kWh battery that develops 188PS of max power and 325Nm of peak torque.
  • It claims 263 km of WLTP-certified range on a single charge.
  • Speaking of the charging time, the off-roader can be juiced up from 20 to 80% in one hour with a 50kW DC charger. However, an 11kW AC charger will take around 10 hours to charge the battery from 0 to 100%.
  • The EV also gets multi-level regen braking and an Eco mode.
  • The D-Max EV also comes with a brand-new De-Dion rear suspension, replacing the older leaf spring setup found in traditional models. This change helps improve handling and ride comfort, especially on rough or uneven roads.
  • Isuzu has also made several other refinements for a quieter and smoother riding experience. In fact, cabin noise and vibrations under full acceleration have been reduced by up to 10%, making the drive more relaxing for both the driver and passengers.

  • Its approach and departure angles are rated at 30.5 degrees and 24.2 degrees, respectively.
  • Isuzu will offer the D-Max EV in both Extended Cab and Double Cab trims.
  • Reports suggest that the production of its left-hand drive version is already underway for Europe, with shipments to key European markets set to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
  • Production of its right-hand drive version is scheduled to start by the end of this year, with sales expected to launch in the UK in 2026.
