Tesla Set to Open Its First Indian Showroom in Mumbai’s BKC

Tesla’s plans to enter the Indian market have been gaining momentum since Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Washington DC. The US-based EV maker is now gearing up to open its first showroom in the country, which will be opened in Mumbai’s BKC. Tesla has booked its showroom space near an Apple retail outlet at Jio World Drive, a mall operated by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance.

As per the Reuters‘ report, Tesla has locked a 5-year lease deal for a showroom in the Maker Maxity building located at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. The 4,003 sq.ft. showroom space comes with a first-year rent of approximately $446,000. The lease reportedly commenced on February 16, 2025. Reports suggests that the brand has also selected location for showroom in New Delhi.

Last month, Tesla has also reported hiring in India. The brand posted 13 jobs for various domains, including customer service, business operations, delivery & order operations, showroom staff and technicians.

Reports also suggest that the US is pushing India to remove high traffics on car imports as part of a proposed trade deal. However, India is hesitant to eliminate them entirely and is instead considering gradual reductions.
