Skoda Kodiaq Discontinued in India: What’s Next?

Skoda Auto India has discontinued the sales of Kodiaq SUV in India. It is expected to be reintroduced in May this year, in a new-generation avatar.

For those unaware, the last version of Skoda Kodiaq sold in India underwent a facelift update in January 2022. However, globally, it has already received a generation change, and it is expected to hit our shores in mid-2025. The upcoming new-gen Kodiaq was also showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo.

About 2025 Skoda Kodiaq

The new-gen Skoda Kodiaq features a refreshed look inside and out, along with new features and powertrain options.

Starting with the exterior, the 2025 Skoda Kodiaq doesn’t look very drastically different from the outgoing model. However, bits like sharp cuts & creases, upward front facia with a wider grille, newly designed alloys, a new sleeker lighting system, more prominent shoulder lines and ‘Skoda’ lettering at the new tailgate give it a fresh appeal. In fact, it draws its styling inspiration from the brand’s new design philosophy called the ‘Modern Solid’.

Changes on the inside are more crucial than the exterior. Having said that, it features a newly designed, minimalist layered dashboard design with a 13-inch free-floating infotainment system and three rotary knobs with integrated display (called Skoda Smart Dials) taking centre stage. It also features a new 2-spoke steering with SKODA lettering, an uncluttered lower centre console and a floating 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The other notable features include: –

  • A premium Canton sound system
  • Multi-colour ambient lighting
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Ventilated & heated seats
  • Two wireless charges with a cooling function
  • Powered front seats
  • Type-C charging ports
  • Nine airbags
  • Hill start & descent assist
  • Electronic parking brakes with auto-hold
  • ADAS suite

Underneath the hood, the new Skoda Kodiaq offers multiple powertrains globally, including a 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid tech, a 204PS 2-litre petrol with AWD, and a 2-litre diesel in 150PS (FWD) and 193PS (AWC) tunes. However, the key highlight is the 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain, paired with a 25.7 kWh battery, offering 204PS and up to 100 km of pure electric range. However, which of them will be offered in India is still a question.

Expected Price and Rivals

Skoda is expected to price the new Kodiaq around Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it against the Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, and Toyota Fortuner.
