Why Have These Cars Been Recalled?

All the above-mentioned models have been recalled over a defective impeller used in the fuel pump of these cars. For those unaware, an impeller in a fuel pump is the rotating component that plays a crucial role in moving fuel from the tank to the engine. It is usually a disc with blades/vanes which is spun by an electric motor, creating a centrifugal force that pushes the fuel (through the pump) towards the engine’s fuel injectors. A defective impeller can restrict fuel flow, which can result in the engine stopping or not starting.

Honda cars recalled

Honda has announced that the affected part will be replaced free of cost in a phased manner starting from November 5, 2024. The company will soon start contacting the owners of affected units. Meanwhile, owners can also check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting the car’s VIN on Honda’s official website.

The brand has also stated that owners who may have bought a fuel pump assembly from authorised Honda dealerships between June 2017 and October 2023 through over-the-counter sales are requested to inspect their cars at an authorised service centre.

Is It Safe To Drive Your Affected Car?

Honda hasn’t mentioned if the affected units are safe to be driven in their current conditions, it is best to take caution and get your car checked promptly to avoid any potential issue.
