Renault Triber Retested By Global NCAP: Scores Just 2 Stars

The Renault Triber has been re-evaluated by the Global NCAP for the South African market, and the Made-in-India MPV has received a disappointing 2-star safety rating in both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. Previously, the Triber was tested in 2021 under less stringent standards and earned a commendable 4-star rating.

Renault Triber: Crash Test Results

The Triber scored 22.29 out of 34 for Adult Occupant Protection and 19.99 out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. This is a drop from its 2021 scores of 11.62 out of 17 and 27 out of 49, respectively.

Adult Occupant Protection

  • Bodyshell: Rated as unstable and unable to bear further loadings.
  • Frontal Impact: Good protection for the head and neck of both driver and passenger; however, the driver’s chest received weak protection, and the passenger’s chest got adequate protection. Driver’s knees received marginal protection.
  • Side Impact: Good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis; weak protection for the chest. The side pole impact test was not conducted due to the lack of curtain airbags.

Child Occupant Protection:

  • 3-Year-Old Seat: Forward-facing seat showed poor protection for the neck and chest, with significant forward head exposure.
  • 18-Month-Old Seat: Rearward-facing seat provided full protection with no head exposure during frontal impact. Side impact protection was good.

Price and Rivals

The Renault Triber is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 8.97 lakh (ex-showroom). It has no direct rivals as such, but is a seven-seater alternative to cars like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR.
