The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has received a disappointing 1-star safety rating in the latest Global NCAP crash tests. The vehicle tested is sold in South Africa but made in India. Back in 2019, the Ertiga earned a three-star rating. However, with the introduction of more rigorous protocols in July 2022, the 2024 model fell short in the updated evaluations.
Adult Occupant Protection: 23.63/34 Pts (69.5 Percent)
Frontal Impact Test
- Head and Neck Protection: Rated as ‘good’ for both driver and passenger.
- Chest Protection: ‘Marginal’ for the driver, ‘good’ for the passenger.
- Knee Protection: ‘Marginal’ for both driver and passenger due to potential contact with hazardous structures behind the dashboard.
- Tibias Protection: ‘Adequate’ for both driver and passenger.
- Footwell Area: Rated as ‘unstable.’
- Bodyshell: Assessed as ‘unstable,’ indicating it cannot withstand additional loadings.
Side Impact Test
- Head, Abdomen, and Pelvis Protection: Rated as ‘good.’
- Chest Protection: Rated as ‘adequate.’
- Side Pole Impact Test: Not conducted due to the absence of curtain airbags, even as an option.
