Tata Punch EV Reserves 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

The Tata Punch EV has secured a 5-star safety rating the latest round of Bharat NCAP crash tests. It scored 31.46 points out of 32 in AOP and 45 points out of 49 in COP, the highest score ever in the Bharat NCAP. It even outperformed the Harrier, Safari, and Nexon EV.

The test was conducted in April 2024 and the safety rating is applicable for all variants of the Punch EV.

Tata Punch EV – Crash Test Report

  • In the frontal impact test at 64kmph, it scored 15.71 out of 16 points, providing good protection for the driver and passenger’s head, neck, chest, thighs, and adequate protection for the driver’s tibias.
  • In the side impact test with a deformable barrier at 50kmph, it scored 15.74 points, offering good protection for the driver’s head, waist, and hips, and adequate protection for the chest.
  • Overall, the Tata Punch EV achieved an Adult Occupant Protection score of 31.46 out of 32, earning a 5-star safety rating.
  • For child occupants, using rearward-facing child restraint systems, it scored 45 out of 49 points, securing another 5-star rating in Child Occupant Protection tests.

Tata Punch EV Safety Rating

For those unaware, the Tata Punch EV’s standard safety suite includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold assist, TPSM, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat anchors, with higher variants adding features like all-wheel disc brakes, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor.

The Tata Punch EV comes with two battery options: 25 kWh and 35 kWh, with only the 35 kWh variant tested by BNCAP. It is available in three broad trim levels: Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Positioned as a competitor to the Citroen eC3, the Punch EV offers a premium alternative to models like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
