2024 Jeep Wrangler – Design Changes and New Features

Being a facelift model, the new Jeep Wrangler receives mild design tweaks, a reworked cabin with a few new features, and improved off-road capabilities. Here are the details: –

  • Starting with the front, the new Wrangler receives an updated seven-slat grille finished in black/grey trim elements and a new windshield made of gorilla glass, which provides additional protection in off-road adventures.
  • While the upgraded SUV maintains its silhouette, it rides on newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels.
  • Despite the design changes, the approach, departure, and breakover angles remain unchanged at 36 degrees, 31 degrees, and 20 degrees (21 degrees for the Rubicon), respectively.
  • The Unlimited variant now offers five exterior colour choices, including the new Sarge Green. The other colour options include Bright White, Black, Granite Crystal, and Firecracker Red.
  • Inside, the new Wrangler features a slightly revamped dashboard that now fits the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, which runs on Jeep’s latest Uconnect 5 OS. The round central air vents have been replaced with thin slits, now positioned below the touchscreen mentioned earlier.
  • The rugged SUV now also gets refreshed HVAC controls, 12-way powered front seats, wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and six airbags.
  • The other notable features of the 2024 Wrangler include a wireless charger, 9-speaker Alpine sound system, dual-zone AC, digital cluster, ESC, reverse parking camera with park assist and ADAS safety technology.

Powertrain and Off-Road Capabilities

Powering the 2024 Wrangler is the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine (270PS and 400Nm), mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It also gets the Jeep’s Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system as standard, with an exclusive Rock Mode for the Wrangler Rubicon variant. Moreover, off-road modes, a low-range transfer case, electronically disconnectable sway bars, and locking differentials enhance the Wrangler’s off-road capabilities.

Competition

In the Indian market, the Wrangler can be seen as an affordable alternative to the Land Rover Defender 110, which costs between Rs 97 lakh and Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom).
