Hero MotoCoro has today launched the Marvick 440 roadster at a starting price of Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is essentially a rebadged version of the Harley-Davidson X440. Having said that, the two bikes share certain similarities; however, they also possess some distinguishable characteristics that set them apart from each other.
Design
The evident difference between the two bikes is their visual appeal. The Hero Marivick 440 is a roadster with muscular proportions, featuring a beefy fuel tank with integrated extensions. On the contrary, the Harley-Davison X440 features a neo-retro styling, borrowing its design cues from the bigger Harleys like Nightster and the now-discontinued XR1200R.
Underpinnings
- Speaking of the hardware, the X440 is built on a double downtube frame, whereas the Marvick 440 underpins the steel trellis frame. While the former provides enhanced stability and strength, a trellis frame offers lightweight construction, improved handling, and a distinctive aesthetic appeal.
- While the Harley-Davidson X440 gets 43mm KYB upside-down (USD) forks up front, the Hero Marvick 440 features 43mm conventional telescopic forks. The USD forks on the Harley-Davidson X440 could provide better damping and handling over rough terrain, while the telescopic forks on the Hero Marvick might offer a more comfortable ride on urban roads.
- Both bikes get 7-step preload-adjustable gas-filled twin-shocks at the rear.
- Despite their identical nature, the Harley X400 gets an 18 and 17-inch alloy setup with 100/90 front and 140/70 rear road-oriented MRF Zapper Hyke tyres, whereas the Hero Marvick gets a 17-inch wheel setup, shod with 110/70 (F) and 150/60 (R) tyre section.
