Tata Tiago CNG, Tigor CNG Launched With AMT

Tata Motors has finally announced the prices for India’s first AMT-equipped CNG models – the Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan. The Tiago iCNG AMT is priced from Rs 7.90 lakh, while the Tigor CNG AMT starts from Rs 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Tiago CNG, Tigor CNG AMT Variants Price List

The CNG-powered Tata Tiago AMT is available in four variants, while the Tigor CNG AMT comes only in two trims. They command a premium of up to Rs 60,000 over their manual counterparts.

The AMT variants of Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG retain the ongoing 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that benefits from the brand’s signature twin CNG cylinder technology that ensures you get ample boot space for your travel needs. What’s more impressive is that it can start directly in CNG mode and includes a safety feature that shuts off the ignition when the fuel lid is opened.

Speaking of the engine performance, it develops 86PS/113Nm in petrol mode and a lower output of 73.5PS/95Nm when fed with compressed natural gas. It is claimed to offer a mileage of 28.06 km/kg.

Earlier, this CNG mill was only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Available in higher trim levels, the CNG versions of the Tiago and Tigor boast superior packaging compared to their rivals, offering a host of premium features, including keyless entry, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 8 speakers, digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio & telephony controls, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera with sensors, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, etc.

Competition

In the Indian market, the Tata Tiago iCNG locks horns with the CNG versions of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, WagonR and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, while the Tigor CNG goes up against the Maruti Dzire CNG and Hyundai Aura CNG.
