BREAKING: Electric Royal Enfield Himalayan Revealed At 2023 EICMA

Royal Enfield finally gave us a sneak peek of its electric lineup at the 2023 EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show) in Italy by unveiling the “Electric Himalayan Testbed.” Similar to its ICE counterpart, it is an adventure tourer but currently serves as a ‘testbed’ for the bikemaker’s future electric offerings and concepts. Here are more details: –

  • Royal Enfield has announced that the Electric Himalayan gets an in-house developed battery pack, which also serves as a stressed member of the chassis. However, its technical specifications are still under wraps.
Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan vs Himalayan 452
  • Design-wise, it significantly differs from the ICE-powered Himalayan and Himalayan 452. In fact, it reminds us of the Husqvarna Norden 901, with its tall and rugged appearance. It features a long single-piece seat that extends to the traditional fuel tank area, where it now houses a charging port.
  • What’s even more interesting is that its bodywork consists of eco-friendly and sustainable material like Organic Flax Fiber, a natural plant-based fibre derived from the stem of the flax plant.
  • Speaking of the underpinnings, the Royal Enfield Electric Himalayan concept features a golden-finished USD fork up front and an Ohlin gas-charged monoshock at the rear, along with an aluminium swingarm. It also gets disc brakes at both ends and SM Pro Platinum spoke wheels, shod with block-pattern tyres.
  • Royal Enfield has stated that it has undergone rigorous testing in the Himalayan regions.
  • A wind tunnel testing has also been performed to ensure its aerodynamic efficiency.

Royal Enfield has also announced that a plethora of new electric concepts will be unveiled in the coming months. These may include the L1A and L1K electric motorcycles, which could belong to the commuter and ADV segments, respectively.
