Honda Shine 100 Launched At Rs 64,900 – Hero Splendor Plus Rival

Honda 2-wheelers India has launched the smaller 100cc version of its highly popular Shine motorcycle at Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom).

Here’s all you need to know about the new Honda Shine 100: –

  • Engine and Gearbox: Honda has offered the new Shine with a 100cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, mated to a four-speed gearbox. It has an automatic choke system that ensures hassle-free starts regardless of the weather.
  • Frame and Underpinnings: The Honda Shine 100 sits on a lightweight diamond frame, suspended onto a telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers.
  • Braking System: For anchoring duties, Honda has equipped the Shine 100 with drum brakes at both ends, with Combination Braking System (CBS) that ensures braking of both wheels simultaneously, thus providing shorter stopping distance with more stability.
  • Dimensions: The company hasn’t revealed the dimensions yet, but it has a ground clearance of 168mm, a turning radius of 1.9m, and a seat height of 786mm.

  • Features: The Shine 100 packs some basics, such as halogen illumination all around, black alloy wheels, a chrome-finished muffler, and a dual-pod analogue instrument cluster. 
  • Colours: The new Honda Shine comes in five colour schemes: Black with Red, Black with Blue, Black with Green, Black with Gold and Black with Grey.
  • Deliveries: The production of the bike will commence next month, while its deliveries are expected to start from May 2023.
  • Competitors – In the entry-level commuter segment, the Honda Shine 100 locks horns with the Bajaj Platina 100 (Rs 65,856) and the Hero Splendor Plus (Rs 72,076).

Using the Shine moniker is a smart move for Honda, as it is already a well-known household name. Also, its prices are quite competitive. Now, it remains to be seen if the Honda Shine 100 will succeed Hero Splendor Plus as India’s best-selling commuter motorcycle.
