Maruti Jimny Receives Over 5,000 Bookings In A Week

  • Launch expected by May 2023.
  • Available in two variants: Zeta and Alpha.
  • Interested customers can make their bookings for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Maruti Suzuki has received a satisfactory response for the 5-door Jimny as the purpose-built off-roader has received over 5,000 bookings in just one week from its official unveiling on January 12, 2023. The SUV will be sold through Maruti Suzukiโ€™s premium Nexa outlets. Its prices are likely to be revealed by May this year.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be sold in just two variants: Zeta and Alpha. Powering it will be a 105PS 1.5-litre petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. An AllGrip Pro 4ร—4 drivetrain will be standard, with a low-range transfer case.

In terms of styling, the Indian-spec Jimny looks similar to its global version, but it has 5-doors instead of two. However, itโ€™s still a four-seater offering with an extended wheelbase for added legroom and more luggage space. Speaking of the features, the SUV comes loaded with automatic headlamps with washers, alloy wheels, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, a colour TFT multi-information display in the instrument cluster, auto AC, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control, up to 6 airbags, ESC, hill hold assist, hill descent assist, brake assist and much more. Expect the Maruti Suzuki Jimny to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be rivalling the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Currently, both these SUVs come in a 3-door avatar; however, their 5-door versions are in the works.
