Maruti Suzuki has introduced a factory-fitted CNG kit option for its flagship Grand Vitara mid-size SUV, making it India’s first SUV to get such a powertrain option. The mid-spec Delta and Zeta versions of the SUV are offered with cleaner powertrains. Here’s a look at their prices: –

Powering the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the same 1.5-litre, Dual-Jet petrol engine as the standard model, restricted to only the 5-speed manual transmission in CNG guise. When fed with compressed natural gas, it generates 88PS of max power and 121.5Nm of peak torque, that’s approximately 15PS and 14.5Nm less than its standard version.
Speaking of fuel economy, the SUV is claimed to deliver a mileage of 26.6 km/kg in CNG guise.
Note: In addition to the CNG powertrain, the Grand Vitara also comes in mild-hybrid, strong-hybrid and all-wheel drive variants.
