Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG Launch Soon; Variants Detail Out

Demand for CNG cars are all-time high nowadays, and to take benefit of this opportunity, Maruti Suzuki is working on more CNG models, including the Brezza CNG. With this, it will be the first in its segment to offer the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit and could have an early-bird advantage.

According to reports, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG will be offered in all four variants of the SUV: LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+, with both manual and automatic transmission options. With this, Maruti Suzuki will become the first carmaker in the country to do so. However, buyers will have to compromise in terms of performance. That said, the 2022 Brezza CNG is likely to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the Ertiga that makes 92PS and 122Nm in CNG mode, with a claimed fuel economy of around 26.08km/kg.

The CNG variants of the Maruti Brezza are likely to bear a price premium of roughly Rs 95,000 over their corresponding petrol trims. For reference, the Brezza Petrol-only variants range between Rs 7.99 – 13.96 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Brezza will enjoy the exclusivity of the CNG option in its segment. However, Tata Motors and Kia are also likely working on CNG counterparts of their sub-4m SUVs.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki has the widest CNG portfolio in India, comprising as many as eight CNG models in its passenger vehicle lineup: Alto 800, Eeco, S-Presso, Wagon R, Celerio, Swift, Dzire, and Ertiga. The recently launched Alto K10 and Glanza will also soon get the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit.
