Ola To Launch A New Electric Scooter; Likely To Undercut Honda Activa In Price

Ola Electric is rumored to launch a more affordable version of the S1 electric scooter this Diwali. Reports suggest that it will be priced below Rs 80,000, thus undercutting the highly-popular Honda Activa 6G and TVS Jupiter 110.

The upcoming Ola scooter is likely to be based on the MoveOS platform. It will retain features like an LED lighting system, a touchscreen rider’s display with Bluetooth connectivity, and OTA support. However, features like performance-oriented Sports and Hyper riding modes, cruise control, and music system could be dropped. It could also get a smaller battery pack with a range of around 100 kilometers on a single charge.

Apart from the introduction of an affordable electric scooter, Ola will roll out the MoveOS 3 software update for the S1 Pro electric scooter in the coming weeks that will boast several new features like customizable themes for the instrument cluster, faux engine revving sound, proximity lock/lock, key sharing, multi-level regenerative braking, hill hold assist, fast charging support, and much more. Besides, the EV maker will also open its 100 public charging docks (called hypercharges) across 50 cities by the end of this month.

In other news, Ola Electric has recently announced to open over 200 showrooms in India by March 2023, out of which 20 centers have already been set up in places like Belgaum, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolhapur, Mangalore, Pune, and Thrissur.
