Tata Harrier Gets A New XMS Variant With Sunroof

  • Tata Harrier gets a new mid-spec sunroof-equipped variant.
  • Available with both manual and automatic transmission options.
  • Becomes the most affordable variant in Harrier’s lineup to get a panoramic sunroof.

Revising the variant lineup of the Harrier, Tata Motors has launched a new sunroof-equipped XMS trim for the SUV, slotting it between the XM and XT variants. Here’s a look at its introductory prices: –

Tata Harrier XMSPrice (ex-showroom)
ManualRs 17.21 lakh
AutomaticRs 18.51 lakh

The new Harrier XMS variant is priced at Rs 17.21 lakh for manual and Rs 18.51 lakh for the automatic version, commanding a premium of Rs 1.11 lakh over the XM variant. This extra penny offers features like a panoramic sunroof, eight speakers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration support, and a reverse parking camera. Other notable features include projector headlamps, front fog lamps, 7-inch infotainment, manual AC, multi-function steering wheel, 6-way powered driver’s seat, rear wiper & washer, multiple drive modes (eco, city, sport), dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold control, stability control (ESP), traction control, and roll-over mitigation.

Compared to the XT variant it misses out on alloy wheels, cruise control, push-button start, automatic headlamps & wipers, rear center armrest, air purifier, and auto climate control. It is just Rs 20,000 more expensive than the XMS manual variant.

Powering the Tata Harrier XMS is the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine (170PS/350Nm) as the other variants, with the choice of 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic transmissions.

Author’s Take

By adding a whole bunch of features to the XM variant, the Harrier XMS trim excuses its cost increase. However, it now questions the value proposition of the XT variant.
