Citroen C5 Aircross Facelift Incoming; Launch On September 7

In a very surprising move, Citroen India has announced the launch of the facelifted iteration of C5 Aircorss on September 7, 2022. The premium mid-size SUV will receive significant cosmetic and feature updates.

New Citroën C5 Aircross SUV | Arriving Soon

Already revealed overseas, the 2022 facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross looks quite futuristic, thanks to its more integrated lighting setup. It gets Citroen’s double chevron logo in the center that comes finished in black with chrome trim and flanked by a pair of DLRs situated within the sleek LED headlamps. The front bumper has also been redesigned and features a wider air dam, which gives the car a broader appearance. There are also reworked vertical vents on either side of the bumper.

Things remain largely unchanged on the side and rear, save for the newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels and new LED tail lamps.

Changes are more significant inside the cabin. It features a completely overhauled dashboard design, with a new free-standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit dominating the center console. It also gets a new switch-based gear selector instead of the existing gear lever. But the most notable additions are the heated & massage functions for the front seats, enhanced seating comfort, Alcantara & perforated leather upholstery options, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) suite. We expect the India-bound facelifted Citroen C5 Aircorss will also don all these changes.

Mechanically, the Indian-bound C5 Aircross facelift is likely to remain unchanged. It will continue with the ongoing 2.0-liter diesel engine (177PS/400Nm), mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

With all these changes, expect the prices of the SUV to increase by a significant margin. Currently, the Citroen C5 Aircross costs between Rs 32.24 – 33.78 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will resume its competition with the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Jeep Compass.
