Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Teased; Launch Likely By Year End

Royal Enfield has recently released a short video on its social media handle that features an adventure bike passing through a water stream. The bike shown in this video seems to be the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. It also implies that its launch is just around the corner.

Going by the teaser, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will feature the same round headlamps and a tall windscreen as iongoing 411cc model. However, it gets bigger turn indicators and an LED headlamps system, which is the first for any Royal Enfield bike. And as revealed by previously leaked spy shots, the new Himalayan 450 could sit on an all-new K1 platform, which is essentially a double cradle frame with a bolt-on subframe.

The new Himalayan will also feature upside down (USD) front forks and a swingarm-mounted monoshock suspension setup, instead of the existing Himalayan’s telescopic fork and link-type rear suspension. For anchoring, it will get disc brakes at both ends with a dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS). However, it will continue to roll on the same 21-/17-inch wire-spoke wheel setup.

The engine specifications of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 are yet to be revealed, but we know that it will feature a more sophisticated liquid cooling technology. We also assume the bikemaker to offer it with a new 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

On its arrival, the upgraded Himalayan will go up against the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G 310 GS.
