2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic Revealed – Updated Design and New Features

India’s highly loved ladder frame SUV, the Mahindra Scorpio has been updated to keep it on sale alongside the new-generation Scorpio N. Now called the Mahindra Scorpio Classic, the upgraded SUV gets a host of cosmetic changes as well as new features to keep things fresh. Here are the details: –

– Mahindra will now offer the old-generation Scorpio (Scorpio Classic) in two variants: S and S11.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic S1

– Design-wise, the Scorpio Classic looks largely similar to the old model except for a few visual differences, such as a revised front grille with Mahindra’s new twin-peaks logo, reworked front bumper that gets a silver skid plate and a new fog lamp housing with DRLs, diamond-cut finished 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-tone cladding on the doors with Scorpio inscription, and brand’s signature vertical LED tail-lamps with red reflectors instead of the earlier wraparound taillamps & black plastic trim.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic interior and features

– Changes are minimal inside the cabin. It now sports new black & beige dual-tone cabin theme against the previous grey & black interior. It also features a new 9-inch Android-based touchscreen infotainment system that supports screen mirroring. There are also faux wooden inserts around the dashboard and center console.

– The other notable features of the Mahindra Scorpio Classic includes a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, auto climate control, rear AC vents, defogger, panic brake indication, day/night IRVM, ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors, etc.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic seats

– Mahindra has provided the Scorpio Classic in three seating configurations: two 7-seaters and one 9-seater. That said, one 7-seater gets two captain seats in the 2nd row, along with a bench in the last row, whereas the other gets a bench in the 2nd row and jump seats for two in the third row. On the other hand, the 9-seater gets a bench in the middle row and jump seats for 4 passengers in the back.

– Powering the body-on-frame SUV is a 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder mHawk turbocharged diesel engine with micro-hybrid technology that churns out 130bhp at 3,750rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm at 1600-2800rpm. The mechanical energy is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic specs and launch date

– Mahindra claims the SUV has also been upgraded in terms of high-speed handling and steering input, as well as roll stiffness to reduce body roll.

– It will go on sale on August 20. However, test drives of the SUV have commenced from today.
