2022 New Maruti Suzuki Brezza: What’s New?

The upgraded Maruti Brezza benefits from significant design, mechanical, and feature revisions that make the sub-4m SUV better suited for young urban buyers. Let’s dive deeper to know all the new additions in detail.

Design

While retaining its butchy silhouette, the new Brezza’s exterior design has been completely redesigned, making it look more premium. Its front fascia has been thoroughly revamped with a new blacked-out grille with chrome inserts flanked by twin-pod LED headlamps that integrate L-shaped dual daytime running lamps (DRLs). There’s also the new chunkier-looking dual-tone front bumper with a faux skid plate, providing it a more brawny appearance.

The side profile remains of the SUV remains largely untouched, save for the new 16-inch dual-tone alloys and more masculine roof rails.

At the rear, you can see a revamped bumper and a new sculpted tailgate with the ‘B R E Z Z A’ lettering between the newly designed wrap-around LED tail lamps.

Dimension-wise, the sub-4m SUV remains unchanged. It continues to measure 3995mm long, 1790mm wide, and 1685mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2500mm.

Interior and Features

Cabins are also given a complete makeover with a new multi-layer dashboard and dual-tone black-and-brown theme. Similar to the facelifted Baleno, the 2022 Maruti Brezza also gets a free-standing 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system as well as a flat-bottom steering wheel, new climate control panel, and rear AC vents.

The other notable additions include the telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, Arkamys tuned sound system, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, connected car tech with remote control functionality, fast-charging USB ports, a single-pane sunroof (first for any Maruti car), a segment-first head-up display (HUD), 360-degree camera, and paddle shifters for the automatic transmission version.

Similar to the Baleno, the HUD in the new Brezza misses out on navigation projection.

For passenger protection, it now comes with up to 6 airbags, whereas active safety features like Electronic Stability Control and Hill Hold Assist have been standardized across the variant lineup.

Engine and Gearbox

Another significant change comes beneath the bonnet in the form of a new Ertiga-borrowed 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, DualJet DualVVT K15C petrol engine that makes 103PS and 137Nm, and can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission (replaces the aging 4-speed unit).

This new powermill also comes equipped with the brand’s idle start-stop system, brake energy regeneration and 48V mild-hybrid system that provides a torque boost and helps in delivering optimum fuel efficiency. That said, Maruti claims the new Brezza can offer a mileage of up to 20.15kmpl which is 1.39kmpl more than its predecessor’s automatic version.
