2022 KTM RC 390 Goes On Sale

After announcing the prices of the new KTM RC 390 earlier this month, the upgraded sports bike finally goes on sale in India. With a price tag of Rs 3,13,922 (ex-showroom Delhi), the bike comes with significant visual and functional upgrades, all for a gain of Rs 36,287 over the previous model.

2022 KTM RC 390 – What’s new?

The new generation KTM RC 390 features a new and more aerodynamic bodywork with a new single-piece LED projector headlamp with boomerang-shaped DRLs-cum-indicators and fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors, a bigger windscreen, a revised fuel tank design with enhanced capacity, and a new split seat setup with broader pillion support.  

Other major highlights of the 2022 KTM RC 390 are: 

  • Two MotoGP-inspired color schemes: KTM Factory Racing Blue and KTM orange.
  • A TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity (misses out on navigation)
  • Lightweight equipment for a more riding-focused experience: a new 1.5kg ultra-light frame (comprising a trellis frame and a bolt-on sub-frame), 1.7kg lighter five-spoke alloys, lightweight footpegs, and 960gm of lighter braking hardware.
  • 13.7 liters of fuel tank capacity (+4.2-litres up from the outgoing model)
  • A new supermoto mode for ABS that permits you to switch off the rear ABS. 
  • New two-step height-adjustable clip-on-handlebar.
  • A quick-shifter as standard.
  • Cornering Traction control and lean-sensitive cornering ABS are also part of the kit.

 At the bike’s heart lies the familiar 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that kicks out a maximum power output of 43.5PS and a peak torque of 37Nm (up by 1Nm). The motor gets revised mapping, along with a 40 percent larger airbox to sweeten rideability and torque delivery.

As for suspension, there are WP Apex Pro 43mm upside-down forks at the front (non-adjustable for the Indian version) and WP Apex Pro mono-shock at the back with preload adjustability. As mentioned above, the braking duties are carried by new & lightweight 320mm front and 230mm rear discs with an asserted more pleasing braking performance.
